On proctoring..

As a practice of the Computer Studies Division of the Ateneo de Davao University, March 17, 2010 is the schedule of the departmental examinations of EDP111 (Fundamentals of Computer Software and Applications) starting from 8:00 a.m. up to 12:30 p.m. Each class is set with an hour and twenty minutes to finish the examinations. Students will need to login their first name, last name, permit number, and section. There will only be one question displayed on the web page. Students could not retrieve the previous question as soon as they have clicked the next button.

One ironic thing about the students is the proctor have already given the instruction verbally and with a projected presentation on the screen board and yet they would still tend to not follow the instruction.

Fifty-two..

We always pay tribute to our love ones most especially to our parents who are so dear to us. Yesterday, we celebrated with our beloved mother "Mama Bella" on her 52nd birthday. Mama knows how less fortunate our family are in terms of financial matters but it is not the hindrance to continue with our respective lives. We were all very happy because each had contributed a potlock for Mama's celebration. There were cakes and ice creams (my favorites too..hehehe..) and other yummy viands. Mama said "bahala'g walay handa basta maayo lang ang lawas sa tanan". We had so much fun especially when my father and his brothers (our uncles, who were our baby sitters before..hehehehe..) bond with us siblings through jokes and laughters.

73rd Araw ng Dabaw

While everyone is rushing to go to the downtown area just to witness the celebration of the 73rd Araw ng Dabaw, I am heading on to one of the city's public market (Agdao) to buy a bunch of milkfish (bangus, hmmm my favorite). In the minds of every Dabawenyo, when a celebration like this is conducted, one must to expect a very congested traffic condition all throughout the downtown area. And as a matter of fact, It takes me almost two hours just to get rid of the traffic jam. What matters most on this day is we have a happy and a sumptuous lunch with the whole family.

It's like.. ..the end of the world..

After I and my girlfriend had a dinner with my parents at KFC NCCC Mall (March 14, 2010), we happened to visit the Mary Rose Carnival just at nearby of the mall. We watched people coming in and out of the carnival. With lots of curiosity and were so amused with the yells coming from the riders of Sea Dragon ride, I and my girlfriend decided to give it a try. We were seated at the leftmost of the first row of the ride. As soon as the ride started, the nervousness arised too to the point that you would surely call GOD for redemption because you would probably think that it would be the end of the world. In my case, it is really one of the challenges since I have the fear of heights. After the ride, both of us were dizzy and so pale.

All Sufferings.. Soon to End!

Last Saturday (March 13, 2010), after doing some paper works in school, I and my girlfriend went to Victoria Plaza to check one of my bank accounts. As we waited for the time to strike 7:00 o'clock in the evening (since the bank was offline), we saw our good friends and eventually just stood by along the corridor near the front door. Suddenly, a lady came and asked "Kuya, gusto niyo ng babasahin?" then she handed a pamphlet to my company. I never knew that it was the Lord's sign that on that evening I would receive a blessing. In the front page of the pamphlet it says "All Sufferings.. Soon to End!". Around 10:00 o'clock of the same night, the blessing came. Thank you GOD for not leaving us even at the times when we are so down and nothing at all.

HACHIKO: A Dog's Story

Film Poster of Hachiko: A Dog's Story
which stars Richard Gere

This movie would really touch the heart of anyone who will watch it. Hachi ("Hachiko"), an Atika breed canine, is adopted by a university professor. Everyday, Hachi would accompany his master from home to the train station and wait there until his master comes back from work. LOYALTY of Hachi is extremely noticeable after his master's death. He keeps on waiting for his master just infront of the train station despite of his master's death. This continues in days, weeks, months, until 10 years. Hachi died outside the train station, just in the place where he used to wait for his master.

Picture of the real Hachiko

The movie was based on the real story of Hachiko, an Atika breed canine, who happens to be the symbol of LOYALTY among the people in Japan. In April 1935, a bronze statue in his likeness was erected at Shibuya Station. Hachiko was born on November 10, 1923 and died on March 8, 1935. His stuffed and mounted remains are kept at the National Science Museum of Japan in Ueno, Tokyo, Japan.
